Children at High Risk

May 29, 2008

My friends at Oakseed Ministries International are promoting this coming Sunday, June 1, as the Annual Day of Prayer for Children at High Risk. The theme for 2008 is The Child With a Disability

This day of prayer does not get the noteriety of some of the others, but it should.  All of them are important, but this day reflects the heart of the Lord in a unique way. (See Matthew 19:14 & Luke 17:2

And there is great need.

According to the Viva Network there are:

Over One Billion children suffering from one or more forms of extreme deprivation.

246 million children are child laborers…

250,000 children are infected with HIV/AIDS every MONTH!!!

And 300,000 under age 18 are exploited as child soldiers.

And, according to Oakseeds Benjamin Bradley:

Many children with disability are denied the right and opportunity to merely be human.

In many countries, the child with a disability is among the invisible children hidden from neighbors and forgotten.

90% of children with a disability in the developing world never attend school.

Join us Sunday, and intercede on behalf of those who have little or no voice for themselves.
