What if I Don’t Want a Personal Relationship with God?

May 20, 2011

My friend David Illman is preparing to move his family from Alabama to Cambridge, England.  As he contemplates the stark cultural and spiritual differences between these two places, David has written provocatively beautiful three- paragraph post titled: I Don’t Want a Personal Relationship With God.

Don’t let the title of the post frighten  you… startle, maybe, but scare no.  David expresses some thoughts about living his faith even in a faithless culture.

One Response to “What if I Don’t Want a Personal Relationship with God?”

  1. David Says:

    Thanks Dennis. You are kind.

If “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork,” how can we not, as Christians, engage the marketplace of ideas? If the “Gates of Hades shall not prevail against you” then we are on the offense. We need to think in terms that we have buckets of water and people outside are thirsty to death. We may have shields of faith, but let’s die to FOR our enemies and lead with the sword of The Spirit.
